“THE MARSHALL GOLDMAN HOME”
The 20 th century architecture in Chicago was designed by some of the finest architects in the country. Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe are among the best. However, when it comes to single-family residences, Keck and Keck put more Midwesterners into genuinely modern, affordable and livable homes. The Keck brothers spend a great deal of time with their clients. They lived with the owners before designing the house in order to incorporate their lifestyle into the design. Features include a large span of full height windows to bring the feeling of the outside landscape into the home. Every room gives you a sense of comfort because of the large windows and natural wood finish of the walls. The uniquely designed built-in closets maximize the use of the bedrooms. Other innovations include a series of louvered window vents – all the windows are fixed glass panels, and wooden doors alongside the windows which open to reveal a screened wooden vent. The vents can be left open all summer for great circulation, are totally secure and do not let the rain in. The broad eaves are carefully designed to shade summer sun but admit winter sun. The radiant floor heating is environmentally friendly and extremely efficient. The Kecks focused on modern solutions that best served their clients needs.
The “Marshall Goldman Home” was designed by Keck & Keck and built in 1951. This classic design is situated on one acre of land with multiple varieties of trees such as Crabapple, Hawthorn, Oak, Plum and Willows, just to name a few. It also has manicured landscaping with ornamental plantings and numerous perennials. Newer features are a commercial grade newer roof, central air, new radiant heat boilers, updated electrical system and new exterior paint. You can relax and entertain on your large 1500 sq. ft. stone patio with a fireplace and grill.
There is a real sense of privacy and the feeling of nature all around you, yet you have the convenience of shopping, golf, walking and bike trails, essential services, I-88 and the commuter train.
